Our Infant Program (6 weeks -12 months)
Brighton School Kids Having funWelcome to our infant room! Our Infant Programs are known for their individualized care and attention. Our first goal for you, the parents, is to provide you with “Peace” of mind and to take care of your needs for your precious baby. Enjoy your visit to this program.
Curriculum – Our curriculum for our Infants and Toddlers is one of self and world discovery. Our teachers provide a warm, nurturing and safe environment which caters to each individual child and their specific needs and schedule. The daily routine of our infants is dependent on where they are at in their developmental schedule. Our caregivers meet the goals for each infant by creating a strong relationship and addressing each child’s needs as they are presented.
The goals of our infant rooms are:
• Clean, safe, warm, nurturing classrooms
• Primary caregiver model
• Support for individual children’s schedules and routines
• Strong relationships with children and parents
• Encourage infant development of social and emotional milestones
• Enhance and encourage physical development and skills
• Encourage and demonstrate sensible health, safety, and nutritional practices
• Encourage exploration in a safe and secure environment
• Provide parents with support and resources
• Respect cultural diversity
The core curriculum consists of constant interactions between infants and caregivers. Our infant rooms use a resource called ACTIVE LEARNING as the base of ideas to incorporate into the daily activities in our infant rooms. Active Learning is an activity based program designed to encourage and support fine and gross motor skills as appropriate for each individual child. It gives our teachers ideas to add to their daily routine, which keep the children stimulated and engaged as well as provides an opportunity for bonding with their caregiver.
Extensions – In addition to Active Learning, our infant programs are filled with age appropriate art experiences, music and movement as well as time for reading.
Classroom Environment – Visit this room and you will see infants exploring the room, each in their own way. Babies will be playing on the floor on soft carpets and blankets, rolling over or pulling up. You will witness teachers hugging, tickling and cooing at these special little ones. Meal times, diaper changes and being rocked to sleep are all chances for “conversation” and special one-on-one interactions. Both teachers and babies will be on the floor, playing, singing, snuggling and talking.
